Life on monitors

Monitor your patients’ vital signs even in unexpected situations!

Perhaps we do not even need to draw your attention to it separately, but the experiences of recent weeks and months show that monitoring the life functions of patients has become even more important in the shadow of the coronavirus pandemic. After all, under normal circumstances, patients prefer to visit general practitioners where not only the expertise of the medical staff is excellent, but where modern, reliable devices are used to protect their health.

Today it is completely natural for a modern medical practice to be equipped with medical devices that provide information about patients’ conditions in a wide variety of areas, or—by their function—facilitate professional, comfortable, and fast patient care.

Since this is a very important topic, in one of our earlier articles we already reviewed which medical devices are worth using as basic equipment for a medical practice. Of course, examination tables and treatment tables cannot be left out, nor can ECG machines and their associated device stands.

But in emergencies such as the one created by the coronavirus, monitors are also necessary.

It is not surprising that COVID-19 caused a near-panic situation among patients. You have surely experienced in your own practice that, due to postponed surgeries and examinations, more and more people contacted their general practitioner—while observing mandatory distancing—mostly by phone, or even private healthcare institutions or online doctors.

In addition, there were an increasing number of patients who were unsure how severe their symptoms were and what they should monitor: extremely high blood pressure, or perhaps an excessively elevated heart rate?

However, in truly severe cases, there always comes a point when the patient needs personal supervision and examinations, as only then is recovery possible. Therefore, it is essential whether the practice is equipped with monitoring or vital sign devices that provide crucial data on the life functions necessary for patient care.

Which monitors can help protect your patients?

Let’s start the list with pulse oximeters, as this is the device used to measure and monitor blood oxygen saturation, especially in clip-on finger versions. This is particularly necessary when a patient presents with a respiratory infection, breathing difficulties, or a heart condition.

In such cases, it is especially important to be informed in time if blood oxygen levels fall below the normal 96–100%, as oxygen deficiency affects the brain, heart, kidneys, and eyes.

From our range, you can choose a finger clip battery-operated pulse oximeter, a pulse oximeter with alarm function, or even a compact, lightweight device that combines blood oxygen and heart rate measurement, making your work easier.

In addition to pulse oximeters, it is also worth acquiring vital sign and/or patient monitors that allow easy monitoring of basic patient life functions. For example, non-invasive (or invasive) blood pressure, oxygen saturation, heart rate, and—if the monitor has a separately available infrared thermometer—body temperature can also be measured within seconds.

From our range, you can obtain a vital sign monitor enabling non-invasive blood pressure measurement, or a patient monitor that—beyond the above—also allows 3-lead ECG measurement, heart rhythm, respiration, pulse, and body temperature monitoring, while this infrared thermometer enables data to be displayed and stored on the monitor. Of course, we can also help if you are looking for a contactless forehead or fever thermometer to minimize infection risk as much as possible.

These devices are recommended not only for hospitals, general practitioner and private clinics, but also for clients where medical care may occasionally be necessary—for example in newly reopened hotels, sports centers, and other public spaces, where unexpected situations may require medical intervention beyond COVID-19.
